Benjamin J. Maxson, D.O.

My belief in a holistic approach to patient care is driven by the idea that all body systems, especially the musculoskeletal system, are important to my patient’s well-being and quality of life.

Dr. Maxson is fellowship trained and board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He takes a holistic approach to patient care, recognizing that all body systems are interconnected and that the musculoskeletal system is especially important to the well-being and quality of life. Dr. Maxson is a member of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute Orthopedic Trauma Service. He provides orthopedic trauma coverage at local Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers and is active in teaching; assisting with the education of orthopedic trauma fellows and orthopedic residents. Dr. Maxson also has an elective orthopedic surgery practice, performing hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty, including robotic joint replacement, deformity correction and nonunion repair, and knee and shoulder arthroscopy.

Dr. Maxson is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics, lecturing and serving as a committee member. He has also lectured at the Florida Orthopedic Society annual meetings, as well as other educational courses and meetings.

After completing a residency in orthopedic surgery at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Maxson completed a fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Maxson studied medicine at Lake Erie College of Medicine in Pennsylvania, where he was a distinguished member of Psi Sigma Alpha National Osteopathic Scholastic Honor Society. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.

In his free time, Dr. Maxson enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
